Section 312
Musean translation
Machine-assisted Musean translation made directly from Hegel's German in the Berlin Nicolai first edition, dated 1821. Complete preface, introduction and sections 1–360, including the author's remarks and notes; no later Gans additions.
312 Of the two sides contained in the estates element (§§ 305, 308), each brings a particular modification into the deliberation; and since, moreover, the one moment has the distinctive function of mediation within this sphere, and indeed between existing things, a separate existence results for it likewise; the assembly of estates will therefore divide into two chambers.
Plain English translation
Independent machine-assisted Plain English translation made directly from the German first-edition source, not from the Musean edition or an existing English translation. Complete preface, introduction and sections 1–360 with the author's remarks and notes.
312 Each of the two sides contained in the estates element (§ 305, 308) brings a particular coloring into the deliberation. And because, besides, one element has the proper function of mediation within this sphere, between things that already exist, it also gets a separate existence. The assembly of the estates will therefore divide into two chambers.
