Letter 037 — XXXVII

Louisbourg, October 5, 1805.
I leave this instant to continue my march. You will be five or six days without news of me, my friend; do not worry, that is because of the operations about to take place. All is well, and as I could have hoped. I attended a wedding here of the son of the Elector of Württemberg and a niece of the king of Prussia. I wish to give the young princess a wedding gift worth 36,000 to 40,000 francs. Have it made and send it to the bride by one of my chamberlains when they come to join me. It must be done immediately. Farewell, my friend, I love and embrace you.

Ludwigsburg, October 5, 1805.
I am leaving now to continue my march. My dear, you will have no news from me for five or six days; do not worry, it is because of the operations about to take place. Everything is going as well as I could have hoped. Here I attended the wedding of the Württemberg Elector's son and the Prussian King's niece. I wish to present the young princess with a wedding gift valued at 36,000 to 40,000 francs. Have it prepared immediately, and when my chamberlains set out to join me, entrust it to one of them for the bride. Goodbye, my dear; I love you and kiss you.
