Musean translation
Machine-assisted Musean translation made directly from Hegel's German in the Berlin Nicolai first edition, dated 1821. Complete preface, introduction and sections 1–360, including the author's remarks and notes; no later Gans additions.
283 The second moment contained in the princely power is the moment of particularity, or of determinate content and its subsumption under the universal. Insofar as it acquires a distinct existence, it consists in the highest advisory offices and individuals, who bring before the monarch for decision the content of current affairs of state, or of statutory provisions made necessary by existing needs, together with their objective aspects, the grounds for decision, the relevant laws, circumstances, and so forth. The selection of individuals for this work, and their removal, fall within his unrestricted choice, since their dealings are with the monarch's immediate person.
Plain English translation
Independent machine-assisted Plain English translation made directly from the German first-edition source, not from the Musean edition or an existing English translation. Complete preface, introduction and sections 1–360 with the author's remarks and notes.
283 The second element contained in the power of the prince is the moment of particularity, or of determinate content and its inclusion under the universal. Insofar as this element acquires a distinct existence, it takes the form of the highest advisory offices and individuals. They bring before the monarch, for decision, the content of state affairs that arise, or of legal provisions made necessary by existing needs, together with their objective aspects: the grounds for decision, relevant laws, circumstances, and so on. Since these individuals deal with the monarch's immediate person, choosing them for this work and removing them falls within his unrestricted choice.
