Section 275
Original German
275 A. Die fürstliche Gewalt.
Musean translation
Machine-assisted Musean translation made directly from Hegel's German in the Berlin Nicolai first edition, dated 1821. Complete preface, introduction and sections 1–360, including the author's remarks and notes; no later Gans additions.
A. The Princely Power
275 The princely power itself contains within it the three moments of the totality (§ 272): the universality of the constitution and the laws; deliberation, as the relation of the particular to the universal; and the moment of ultimate decision, as the self-determination into which everything else returns and from which it takes its beginning in actuality. This absolute self-determination constitutes the distinguishing principle of the princely power as such, which must first be developed.
Plain English translation
Independent machine-assisted Plain English translation made directly from the German first-edition source, not from the Musean edition or an existing English translation. Complete preface, introduction and sections 1–360 with the author's remarks and notes.
275 A. The power of the prince.
The power of the prince itself contains the three moments of the whole (§ 272): the universality of the constitution and laws; deliberation as the relation of the particular to the universal; and the moment of final decision, as self-determination, to which everything else returns and from which it begins to become actual. This absolute self-determination is the distinguishing principle of the power of the prince as such. It must be developed first.
