Section 145

147 of 362 sections in Elements of the Philosophy of Right by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel

Musean translation

Machine-assisted Musean translation made directly from Hegel's German in the Berlin Nicolai first edition, dated 1821. Complete preface, introduction and sections 1–360, including the author's remarks and notes; no later Gans additions.

145 That the ethical is the system of these determinations of the Idea constitutes its rationality. In this way it is freedom, or the will existing in and for itself, as the objective, a circle of necessity whose moments are the ethical powers that govern the life of individuals and have in these, as their accidents, their representation, their appearing shape and actuality.

Plain English translation

Independent machine-assisted Plain English translation made directly from the German first-edition source, not from the Musean edition or an existing English translation. Complete preface, introduction and sections 1–360 with the author's remarks and notes.
