Mouseia

Mouseia’s complete machine-assisted Musean translation, made directly from all 17 Old Avestan Gāthās, comprising 255 numbered sections and five invocations in the pinned Geldner witness for fidelity, clarity, structure, imagery, and cadence.

48.1. If, through these gifts, Asha shall overcome the Lie—when what the deceivers proclaimed shall be revealed as false among daēvas and mortals—then, with your saving powers, praise shall increase for you, Ahura.

48.2. Tell me what you, knowing, know, Ahura, before the encounter that I foresee comes upon me: shall the follower of Asha, Mazda, overcome the follower of the Lie? For this is known as the good shaping of existence.

48.3. For the one who knows, the best of teachings is what the beneficent, knowing, bounteous Ahura teaches through Asha—even the secret declarations, Mazda, through the wisdom of Vohu Manah.

48.4. Whoever makes his mind better, Mazda—or worse—also makes his conscience so, through deed and through word. His desires, choices, and preferences follow it. In your wisdom, his end shall be distinct.

48.5. Let good rulers rule us; let no evil rulers rule us. Through deeds born of good insight, Armaiti, let purification be worked for the mortal after birth. Let the Cow be tended best; let her be cultivated for our nourishment.

48.6. For she shall give us good dwelling; she shall give us endurance and vigor, through the thriving of Vohu Manah. Through Asha, Mazda shall make the plants grow for her, Ahura, from the first generation of existence.

48.7. Let Wrath be cast down; let violence be cast down. Stand against cruelty; stand against bloodshed, you who desire to hold fast to Vohu Manah. Let Asha come to the clans whose man is bounteous; then, Ahura, I shall place his settlements in your domain.

48.8. What is your power of Vohu Manah’s Dominion, Mazda? What is your reward of Asha for me, Ahura? What manifest help is to be sought from you through Asha for the deeds of the Bounteous Spirit?

48.9. When shall I know, Mazda, whether you rule through Asha over the one whose threat terrifies me? Let the true pattern of Vohu Manah be clearly revealed to me. Let the future bringer of benefit know how his reward shall be.

48.10. When, Mazda, shall men turn away from the intoxicant? When shall you strike down the filth of this drink, through which the Karapans wickedly delude, and the evil rulers of the lands in deliberate purpose?

48.11. When, Mazda, shall Armaiti come with Asha? When shall peaceful, pasture-rich dwelling come with Dominion? Who shall bring peace against the bloodthirsty followers of the Lie? To whom shall the insight of Vohu Manah come?

48.12. Then they shall be the benefit-bringers of the lands: those who, through Vohu Manah, follow understanding with deeds in accord with Asha and with your teaching, Mazda. For they are appointed adversaries of Wrath.

48.13. Through Bounteous Spirit and Best Mind, through Asha, through deed and through word, may Ahura Mazda grant that one Wholeness and Immortality, through Dominion and Armaiti.:: Through Bounteous Spirit and Best Mind, through Asha, through deed and through word, may Ahura Mazda grant that one Wholeness and Immortality, through Dominion and Armaiti.:: Asha is good; it is best.:: Radiance is; radiance is for the one for whom Asha is for the best.:: (..) Asha is good; it is best.:: Radiance is; radiance is for the one for whom Asha is for the best. Asha is good; it is best.:: Radiance is; radiance is for the one for whom Asha is for the best. We worship the chapter “If, through these gifts.” Whichever beings Ahura Mazda knows to be good for worship according to Asha—those, both male and female, we worship.

Mouseia

Mouseia’s complete Plain English edition, made independently and directly from all 17 Old Avestan Gāthās, comprising 255 numbered sections and five invocations in the pinned Geldner witness.

48.1. If, through these gifts, Asha overcomes the Lie, when what the gods and mortals proclaimed through deception is exposed as false in immortality, then through your saving powers praise will increase for you, Ahura.

48.2. Tell me what you know, Ahura, before the encounter that I foresee comes to me. Will the truthful one, Mazda, overcome the deceitful one? For this is known as the good completion of existence.

48.3. For the one who understands, the best of teachings is the one the beneficent, knowing Ahura teaches through Asha—even the secret declarations, Mazda, through the wisdom of Vohu Manah.

48.4. Whoever makes his mind better or worse, Mazda, also makes his conception, actions, and words so. His wishes, choices, and preferences follow it. In your wisdom, his end will be distinct.

48.5. Let good rulers rule; let bad rulers not rule. Through deeds arising from good discernment, Armaiti, let a mortal make the world whole. Let the cow be worked in the best way; let her be cultivated for our nourishment.

48.6. For she will give us good dwelling and endurance; she will give strength for the growth of Vohu Manah. Then, through Asha, Ahura Mazda will make the plants grow for her at the birth of the first existence.

48.7. Let wrath be bound; let violence be struck down. Resist fury; resist it, you who wish to strengthen Vohu Manah through Asha. The beneficent person belongs to that community. I place his creations within your creation, Ahura.

48.8. What is your power of good Dominion, Mazda? What is your reward through your Asha for me, Ahura? What manifest support is to be sought through Asha for the deeds of the beneficent Mainyu?

48.9. When will I know, Mazda, whether you rule through Asha over the one whose threat frightens me? Let the pattern of Vohu Manah be declared clearly to me. Let the future benefactor know how his reward will be.

48.10. When, Mazda, will people reject the filthy intoxicant? The Karapans wickedly delude people with it, and the bad rulers of the lands do so deliberately.

48.11. When, Mazda, will Armaiti come together with Asha? When will peaceful, pasture-giving Dominion come? Who will bring peace from the bloodthirsty followers of the Lie? To whom will the discernment of Vohu Manah come?

48.12. They will be the future benefactors of the lands: those who, through Vohu Manah, follow satisfaction and, through their deeds, follow the Asha of your teaching, Mazda. They are indeed appointed opponents of wrath.

48.13. Through Spenta Mainyu and Best Mind, through Asha, and through action and word, they grant him Wholeness and Immortality: Ahura Mazda through Dominion and Armaiti. Through Spenta Mainyu and Best Mind, through Asha, and through action and word, they grant him Wholeness and Immortality: Ahura Mazda through Dominion and Armaiti. Asha is good; it is best. Happiness is; happiness belongs to the one for whom Asha is for the best. (Repeat:) Asha is good; it is best. Happiness is; happiness belongs to the one for whom Asha is for the best. Asha is good; it is best. Happiness is; happiness belongs to the one for whom Asha is for the best. We worship the chapter called “If, through these gifts.” We worship those male and female beings whose goodness in worship Ahura Mazda knows in accordance with Asha.
