Letter 090 — XC

90 of 172 parts in Letters to Josephine by Napoléon Bonaparte

I have received your letter of the 8th, my dear friend; I am glad to see that you have been to the Opera and plan to receive guests every week. Go to the theater sometimes, and always in a large box. I am also glad to hear of the festivities given in your honor. I am very well. The weather is still uncertain; it freezes and thaws. I have put my army back into cantonments to give it rest. Never be sad, love me, and believe in all my affection.

My dear, I've received your letter of the 8th. I'm pleased to hear you went to the opera and plan to entertain every week. Go to performances from time to time, and always take a grand box. I'm also glad people are giving parties for you. I'm very well. The weather remains unpredictable, freezing and thawing by turns. I've put my army back into quarters to give it a rest. Never be sad; love me, and trust in all my feelings for you.
