Musean translation

Complete machine-assisted Musean translation made directly from the Sanskrit, independently of the Plain English edition. All eight books and the closing invocation are retained.

2.13.1 Addressing a woman is Hinkara; making one's desire known is Prastava; lying with a woman is Udgitha; lying face to face with the woman is Pratihara; coming to the close is Nidhana; reaching the end is Nidhana. This is the Vamadevya woven into sexual union.

2.13.2 Whoever knows this Vamadevya woven into sexual union finds a mate and brings forth offspring from each union; reaches the full span of life and lives long; becomes great through offspring and livestock, great in renown. One should turn no woman away: that is the vow.
