Musean translation

Complete machine-assisted Musean translation made directly from the Sanskrit, independently of the Plain English edition. All eight books and the closing invocation are retained.

7.6.1 "Contemplation is greater than awareness. The earth seems to contemplate; the middle air seems to contemplate; heaven seems to contemplate; the waters seem to contemplate; the mountains seem to contemplate, and gods and humans. Those among humans who attain greatness here seem to share in contemplation. Those who are petty are quarrelsome, malicious, and abusive; those who are eminent seem to share in contemplation. Meditate on contemplation.

7.6.2 "Whoever meditates on contemplation as Brahman moves at will wherever contemplation extends—whoever meditates on contemplation as Brahman." "Revered sir, is there something greater than contemplation?" "There is indeed something greater than contemplation." "Tell me of it, revered sir."

Plain English translation

Complete machine-assisted Plain English translation made independently and directly from the Sanskrit, not from the Musean edition. All eight books and the closing invocation are retained.

7.6.1 "Meditation is greater than awareness. Earth seems to meditate; the space between earth and heaven seems to meditate; heaven seems to meditate; waters seem to meditate; mountains seem to meditate; gods and human beings seem to meditate. That is why people who achieve greatness in this world seem to have a share in meditation. Petty people quarrel, spread gossip, and find fault. But influential people seem to have a share in meditation. Meditate on meditation."

7.6.2 "Someone who meditates on meditation as Brahman can move as they please wherever meditation reaches. This is true of someone who meditates on meditation as Brahman." "Sir, is anything greater than meditation?" "Yes, something is greater than meditation." "Please tell me what it is."
