Mouseiaan open library of the ancient world

Contribute

Mouseia accepts complete original-language works and complete translations made directly from those originals. Translations of translations are not accepted. Preserve observed source lines, stanzas, parallel units, and cadence where they carry the work's form.

Before submitting, use Champollion’s translation method to prepare your source evidence, check alignment, and record your review.

Submissions are tied to your reader account so you can follow their review. Reading never needs an account.

What a good submission looks like

Send the complete work, not an extract. A translation must be made from the original language, never from another translation, and it must carry both attestations: that it follows the source, and that the structure is preserved. Keep the source's lines, stanzas, and parallel units where they carry the work's form, and put your note in the same field so readers can see how the edition was made.

Every submission lands with the original text beside it, so any line can be checked against the source. Published works are downloadable from the public API as JSON, original text, and Retex Markdown, with no account or key needed. The terms cover licensing and acceptable use, and about the library explains the principles every edition is held to.
